Introduction

At Larsen Strings, we are proud of our heritage as a family-owned Danish company dedicated to crafting high-quality strings for violins, violas and cellos. Our commitment to excellence is matched by our dedication to ethical business practices, sustainability and respect for people and the planet.

This Code of Conduct outlines the principles that guide our behaviour as a company and as individuals representing Larsen Strings. It is intended for our employees, partners, customers and the wider community. While it is not a legally binding document, it reflects the standards we strive to uphold in all our activities.

1. Respect for Human Rights

We support and respect internationally recognised human rights. We do not tolerate any form of forced labour, child labour or discrimination based on race, gender, religion, age, disability, sexual orientation, nationality or political beliefs.

Example: As stated in our employee policy handbook, we do not tolerate bullying, harassment or discrimination and we expect everyone to treat others with respect.

2. Fair and Ethical Business Practices

We conduct our business with integrity, honesty and transparency. We comply with all applicable laws and regulations in Denmark and in the countries where we operate or sell our products.

  • We do not engage in corruption, bribery or unfair competition
  • We avoid conflicts of interest and disclose any potential conflicts when they arise
  • We keep accurate records and act responsibly in all financial matters

Example: Employees must not accept gifts or hospitality that could influence business decisions or create the appearance of impropriety.

3. Commitment to Quality and Product Responsibility

Quality is at the heart of everything we do. From raw materials to finished products, we strive for excellence and continuous improvement.

  • We maintain high standards in craftsmanship and customer service
  • We listen to feedback and use it to enhance our products and processes
  • We ensure our products meet applicable safety and regulatory standards

Example: If a customer reports a defect in a string, we investigate the issue thoroughly and use the insight to improve future production.

4. Environmental Responsibility

We are committed to reducing our environmental footprint and contributing to a more sustainable future. Our actions are inspired by the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly those related to responsible production, climate action and life on land.

  • We aim to minimise waste, reduce emissions and use resources efficiently
  • We prioritise sustainable materials and packaging wherever possible
  • We continue to explore eco-friendly solutions across our supply chain

Example: We have introduced recyclable packaging for our strings and continue to explore improved alternatives.

5. Responsible Supply Chain

We recognise that our responsibility extends beyond our own operations. We aim to work with suppliers and partners who uphold ethical labour practices, safe working conditions and environmental responsibility.

  • We expect suppliers to comply with applicable laws and industry standards
  • We prefer long-term partnerships with organisations that share our values
  • We encourage transparency and responsible sourcing wherever possible

Example: Larsen Strings complies with the requirements of Regulation (EU) 2017/821 on the responsible sourcing of minerals. Our compliance is documented through an independent auditor’s report.

6. Safe and Inclusive Workplace

We strive to create a workplace that is safe, inclusive and respectful for all employees.

  • We promote diversity and equal opportunities
  • We do not tolerate harassment, bullying or any form of workplace violence
  • We ensure that health and safety standards are met and regularly reviewed

Example: All employees receive training on workplace safety and are encouraged to report concerns without fear of retaliation.

7. Data Protection and Privacy

We respect privacy and protect personal data in line with applicable laws, including GDPR. We only collect and use personal information responsibly, securely and for legitimate purposes.

  • We handle customer, partner and employee data with care
  • We do not share personal information unless necessary to provide a service or required by law
  • We take appropriate measures to protect data from misuse or unauthorised access

Example: Customer information collected through our website or newsletter is stored securely and never used for purposes outside our communication and service.
