Chongwu WANG

He released his debut album of cello solo, “Striking a Chord in the heart of Chongwu WANG” and the CCOM “A New Way of Thinking” cello graded examination book, “Squirrel Cellist” .

Mr. Chongwu WANG began to study cello under the guidance of his uncle, Tianming Zhang, from the age of four. Being ranked first, he was admitted to the Music School Attached to the Central Conservatory of Music and then the CCOM Orchestral Instruments Department. Afterwards he was recommended for admission without taking exams to be a postgraduate and learned from Ms. Mula Na, the cello professor and doctoral supervisor of the CCOM. While pursuing further study on music, Mr. Chongwu WANG won 3rd place and “Finals Award” in the 6th Carlos Prieto International Cello Competition, 2nd place of the youth group in the 6th VC Cup National Youth Cello Competition, 9 national and collegiate scholarships. His recorded repertoires won 4 awards at both domestic and international composition competitions for cello.

As a member of the delegation of Chinese musicians and a representative from the CCOM, he has participated in many important performances for the President and other Party and state leaders as well as other heads of state. He has played at the Golden Hall of the Great Hall of the People, Party School of the CPC Central Committee, the National Center for the Performance Arts(NCPA), the Macedonian Opera and Ballet, the Grand Theatre in Mexico and the Varna Central Theatre etc and the performances were broadcast on the CCTV Music Channel. His playing at the annual gathering of Chinese New Year by the CPC Central Committee and State Council and the National Day evening party were reported on the XINWEN LIANBO(CCTV News Broadcast), People’s Daily, Beijing Daily, Music Weekly and many other TV stations, newspapers and magazines.

He has attended master classes of Tao Song, Jian Wang, David Geringas, Clirer Rodin, Lynn Harrell, Roman, Carlos Prieto, Jesus Castro-Balbi, William Molina, Philippe Muller, Aldo Parisot, Asier Polo, Jo Cole FHEA, ARAM and many other internationally renowned cellists.

As an invited cello soloist, Mr. Chongwu WANG has played at more than 100 major concerts under the programs of “Classic Arts into Campus” and “Tour of Excellent Plays by National-level Art Troupes & Theaters” jointly organized by Ministry of Culture and Tourism, Ministry of Education and Ministry of Finance.
