First Prize and several times Special Prize of the international K. Penderecki competition, Astrig Siranossian performs as a soloist with major orchestras. Invited regularly by Daniel Barenboim, her partners on stage are no less than Simon Rattle, Martha Argerich, Yo-Yo Ma, Kirill Gernstein, Elena Bashkirova, Emmanuel Pahud. She performs regularly on the biggest stages: Philharmonie de Paris, Carnegie Hall in New York, Musikverein in Vienna, Walt Disney Hall in Los Angeles, KKL Lucerne, Casino de Bâle, Théâtre des Champs Élysée, Philharmonie de Berlin, Flagey Brussels, Théâtre Colon Buenos Aires, Kennedy Center Washington. Regularly invited on television channels (TF1, France 2, France 5, CultureBox TV, BR Kultur..), her recordings are unanimously acclaimed by the press. In October 2022, his album Duo-Solo will be released, a meeting of popular melodies and dances and a scholarly repertoire bringing the cello and voice into dialogue.
In 2021, she recorded with her stage partner Nabil Shehata, the first concerto of C. Saint-Saëns for the Alpha Classics label. For the same label, the album “Dear Mademoiselle” was released in 2020, a tribute to Nadia Boulanger with the pianists Nathanaël Gouin and Daniel Barenboim, which received tributes from the international press.
Since 2015, she has been the artistic director of the “Musicades”, a festival in her hometown, Romans sur Isère, which mirrors music with the arts. In 2019, she created the “Spidak Sevane” mission, which helps children in Lebanon and Armenia through music. In 2023, she became artistic director of the Adèle Clément cello festival in Drôme. In 2024, Astrig will take over the direction of the Nadia and Lili Boulanger festival in Trouville.
Astrig Siranossian was born into a family of musicians. Admitted to the CNR in Lyon, she continued her studies at the CNSM in Lyon, obtaining her higher education diploma with honors at the age of eighteen. It was in Switzerland, at the Basel Conservatory, that she completed her training in the class of Ivan Monighetti, graduating with the highest distinctions in her master’s degree in concert and her master’s degree in soloism.
She plays a cello by Francesco Ruggieri from 1676, generously loaned by the Boubo Music Foundation, as well as a cello from 1756 by the luthier Geinaro Gagliano which belonged to Sir John Barbirolli.
